For my first competitive tournament since my arrival in New York, I have decided to play the 1st CHESSanity Masters. 4 rounds during the weekend of April 1st-2nd in New Jersey. The playing venue is Hilton Garden Inn Edison/Raritan Center.

CHESSanity is a non-profit organization, founded by the two NMs Warren and Wesley Wang. Both brothers are going to participate in this first edition of the tournament.
The idea of the tournament is that young and/or competitive players will have the chance to play against title holders (such as myself). For the titled players, they are favorites to win the main prizes. The minimum rating requirement is USCF 2100, so the tournament is strong. For future tournaments – 2nd edition an onward – the organizers plan to FIDE-rate them as well.
A few important details from the organizers:
- High cash payout and transparent formula, which will be raised starting from 2nd tournament.
- Incentive for early registration ($50 bonus for GMs/IMs), and no deduction from winning.
- Convenient location, close to NJ Turnpike Exit 10 and free shuttle bus to a NJ Transit station.
Looking forward to play in New Jersey!
