Description: An online class with focus on strategy in the middlegame and the endgame. The anchored bishop is a pawn-bishop defending each other, a very strong formation that can have a lasting impact on a position. Double-Edged Bishops are bishops “that cannot yet be declared good or bad, but rather holds the potential of becoming good as well as the risk of becoming bad.” (From my The Secret Life of Bad Bishops, Quality Chess 2014.) These themes often show themselves in the fight bishop versus knight (with additional pieces on the board), but exchange sacrifices are also relevant. We will analyse games and positions with few to many pieces on the board.
